Between 1991-2005 I presented numerous workshops on using games to "engagify" education, but in 2006 I found myself seeking to engage distance education students. Even then, with relatively few students, it was clear that a MOOC-like approach was ineffective. After much research however, I discovered a select number of safe and highly effective 3D interactive Virtual Learning Environments that created a highly positive relationship between the learner and the subject being studied. This Immersive Technology program, has been growing 300% annually at HCOS. It would be my pleasure to share with you the secrets to this success.
Delegates will get a succinct overview of:
- The educational theory that underpins and justifies the use of 3D interactive virtual learning environments (VLEs);
- The need to be very selective in what is used with students;
- What is currently being done in this field; and
- How they can get the resources and any training necessary to bring a new level of engagement and learning to their teaching practice.
