Gamification in education, in its most basic form, is about placing the central goal of learning a subject within layers of game-like mechanisms. It is not, contrary to belief, turning education into videogames. In this presentation I will discuss a little bit about theories related to gamification, and devote most of the presentation time to how I implemented points/rewards and badges inside a Desire2Learn class. If possible, I'd also like to compare this with a non-gamified class to see if there is any positive effect from gamification.
Delegates will leave with gamification ideas, various Desire2Learn implementations that resemble gamification structures.
