E-mentoring and student support through an LMS

Inclusion Outreach (IO) is a MoEd Provincial Outreach Program based in Victoria that supports students with complex needs. IO staff see students in person once every two to three years. Open School BC and IO have partnered in an innovative E-mentoring pilot project that provides service continuity for these students. Using a Learning Management System (LMS) we have created student information repositories that replace binders of paper reports and curriculum materials. Videos and a web conferencing tool allow staff to connect regularly with parents and school-based teams. We'll describe the LMS, and the responses from the first pilot participant's team and others.

Delegates will come away with alternative ways to use an LMS to support students Mentoring peers using an LMS.
