A Grade 9 Science pilot project has been initiated in Pembina Hills Regional Division Alberta. A teacher has chosen to use the new Science 9 Moodle course to offer students an opportunity to work on an alternate program alongside their classmates. The course is designed to provide many layers of scaffolding to encourage and maintain independent learning, as needed, without bogging everybody down. This presentation will discuss what worked and what didn't in this context.

Delegates will come away with :
In Moodle:  How to develop independent learners by
- providing lots of scaffolding for those who need it without bogging down those who don't
- providing frequent self-assessment opportunities (with data readily available for teachers to use)
